Repainting Jon Boat

So my aluminum jon boats paint is all scratched up, and I just plain out don’t like it. I am wanting to repaint it camo so I can use it for duck-season next year but have a few questions before I start.
First off, process? Have an electric sander and was thinking 80grit first, then maybe go back with 120 or so to smooth it out. After than, wash/ wipe down with some acetone to clean it off completely. Etch-Prime, base, then final coat of paint… sound about right?

Second, while sanding should I be worried about the seems, or rivet in the aluminum?

Here are some pictures of the boat and seems/ rivets

Thanks in advance and any help is much appreciated

I just finished a 14’ Polar Kraft. Did pretty much like you mentioned. I did wire brush on a drill for the flaky stuff, then 60 grit - then 120 grit - then two wipe downs. Put on two coats of Parker Duck boat paint on it. Flat OD Green. Looks like a new one!

If you’re taking it all the way back to the metal, I would think that an “etching primer” would be necessary. Maybe Zinc-Chromate?
Before you spray the primer use a solvent called First Kleen. It will really help prepare the aluminum for the paint.

For god sakes its a jon boat. rough sand, zinc chromate primer, buy 6-8 cans of flat camo spray @ hardware store and have a blast. Keep a can or two and you can touch up any time. My jon boats name is FUGLY and she is, but she goes where i want. Most impotant was the duradeck on the casting platform, benches and floor, made her a lot quieter, (used 3 colors here too). I always wind up with a few scratches from shells or an anchor and just pull out any color and touch up as needed.
