A hot iron VERY carefully works for smoothing out scratches that don’t penetrate all the way thru. Hot enough to melt the little shards of plastic sticking up from the scratches but not hot enough to melt solid plastic, if it smoles at all, it’s too hot. Play with the temp settings on a small area untill it seems right. spraying a little pam or something like that on the iron will help too. Just be sure to keep the iron moving and stop every now and then and let plastic cool completly, you want to be extra careful on flat areas on the hull to avoid any warpage, try to get it to smooth out scratches in one pass versus several passes.
WARNING, do not use the wifes good iron for this if you want to stay married!
If there are just a few scratches you can very carefully use a small propane torch to smooth them out a bit, but to do the entire hull use a iron.

Go to a hobby shop. You can buy a tool used for shrinking the material used on RC airplanes. Looks like a mini iron with a handle. That will keep the wife from getting mad. Also saw on the Cobra Kayak website that they recommend using a propane torch like Russ said. Keep it moving!!
