replacement parts ambassadeur pro rocket

I have an Ambassadeur pro rocket black edition (6500CSBPROROCKET) like this one http://www.abugarcia.com/abugarcia-reels-baitcast-reels-round/abu-garcia-ambassadeur-prorocket-black/1315385.html

one end of the handle broke off and I had a couple of questions:

  1. looking at schematics http://www.abugarcia.com/AbuGarcia-reel-schematics.html and there are 6 different 6500CS schemas but none have same handle as mine… anyone know how to find right one?
  2. Anyone have recommendations for best place to buy replacement parts.

What handle does your reel have? Most of the abu round reels in 4500/4600 to 6500/6600 will take the same handle. I have about 20 abu reels in those sizes & the only differences I can see is finish color if it’s the basic metal handle with the grips shown in your linked pic. Carbon fiber handles might be different, but they’re too expensive for me.

There are the “power” handles too, and they have a couple of them that will also fit all these reels. I added power handles to a few of my larger size reels.

In the past, I’ve bought parts from Mike’s Reel Repair in Canada, Dad’s Ole Tackle in Texas, and Betty & Nick’s Bait & Tackle in NJ. Never had any issue with any of them. Mike’s sometimes takes longer for shipping due to customs, but always got what I ordered.

Another place to mention that was recommended to me is Grumpy’s Tackle also in NJ. I’ve never bought anything from them however.

I’m reasonably sure parts can also be ordered direct from ABU, but never have done it myself.

You may want to shop & compare. The 3 above that I’ve used also all sell on Ebay, that’s how I found them. Although I have no problem with Ebay, I’ll get a quote from them direct because some parts are priced better direct.

thanks for the responses… I think I have the power handle but I’ll check. I sent a request to abugarcia online but I may just give haddrells a call Monday. Thanks again for the responses

If you can go to Haddrells & they stock parts, such as handles, you can likely get what you need on the spot. As I said, most of the reels will take the same handles, but ABU has made so many different versions over the years, it’s best to take the reel & match the part to the reel. Only take a few minutes, and if their repair guys knows his trade, which I’m betting he does, you’ll get the correct part.

For the times I’ve bought ABU parts, most places have had pricing that was either the same or within pennies, so the main issue for me was availability or shipping cost. There have been places I’ve contacted in the past that specialized in other brands & told me they can get ABU parts, but I prefer dealing with those who are more familiar with ABU reels.

It’s a bit of a drive for me to go to Haddrells, but it’s nice to know they’re an ABU warranty center. Still a lot closer to home than the places I mentioned. Good info to know for future reference! :smiley:
