Replacing a gas filler cap

Has anyone ever replaced the filler neck on a SeaPro 180CC? I lost the gas cap and can’t find a replacement that fits. So, I am replacing the filler neck.

I can get the screws to back out, but the filler tube seems stuck. Is it caulked in or sealed to the outer wall somehow?

I could use some advice before I tackle this.

Thanks!

Not trying to be a smarta$$, but is there a hose clamped to bottom of the filler neck? Probably with one or two hose clamps. That might be holding you up. There also may be 5200 sealant on the base. A thin guitar string or piano wire might help break the seal around the base.

Now Bob, why would anyone ever suggest you were being a smartazz? Hope you are doing well!

Don’t think your being a smartazz at all. There may be something connecting the fill tube and the hose, but I can’t see it. I will try to snake in there with something.

There are 2 big hose clamps on the end of the hose. Even after you get those off it will still be a pain in the rear to get the hose off of the filler neck. I had to replace my filler hose a few years ago and it was not any fun.

Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because a couple of threads have gone POOF!</font id=“red”> within minutes after I posted. You know, after I get home from work at midnight and have had that one beer that throws me over the edge of not knowing when to stop typing what I’m really thinking:smiley: Actually, I get that way even when I have’nt been drinking.
I’m doing good, how about yourself, Doug?
