replacing fish finder on a 17ft sea pro cc

The original Eagle fishfinder/depthfinder on my 17 cc sea pro had been slowly losing its screen. I figured it was time to replace it. Not being financially flush, I went with the Garmin 140 as a replacement. I grabbed it off of the internet, Target of all places, for $98.
After getting it in the mail, I had a choice, do the replacement myself or bring it to someone. Again, being that my time is less expensive than a professional’s, I decided to give it a shot myself. It took a while (3 hrs) but it’s in. THe biggest problem was fishing the wires through the pvc chase. But once that was done, the rest took some time but I got it done. My only concern is dealing with the holes from the old unit. THe holes in the transom from the old transducer were refilled with 3M 3200 and the screws put back in. I hope that it stays watertight! It was my first “big” job on the boat. TOmorrow, weather permitting, I’ll find out if it worked!!
