report 1/14

well, i haven’t given too many reports on this forum lately cause i broke my digital camera, and i think reports without pics are pretty lame, but i had a session this AM that was so $ that i had to give it a shout…even though i dont’ have pics i guess yall have to trust me

launched at dark this am and made the long paddle to my favorite hole, found a HUGE school (in the hundreds easy) wedged up real tight just lightly swirlin and tippin their tails … hit em w/ some light green w/ sparkles BAs w/ a 1/4 red jig (didn’t have to go weedless cause i was on real hard sand bottom that gets its fair share of waves)…was pickin em off left and right all through the morning–i’d connect w/ one and the group would spook then they would settle down and gobble up some green chronic some more right after i revived their buddy, they weren’t getting it all i was super stealth…it was awesome the winds stayed slack all through the morning…best part, all the fish i caught were over 30inches it was crazy and these boys were puttin up some serious fights, i was tellin my buddy in fl that the redfish at each size fight so much harder out in our waters than they do back in the lagoon, its sick…

anyways, there was some serious swell in the inlet i was fishing this am (made for a good surf session later than afternoon), and i was fightin this one fish standin up w/ my back to the waves and got blown up off the kayak (that NEVER happens to me), lost my costas and everything, but kept the line tight and landed the fish even though my reel is gonna need some lube love tonight

oh and best part–> found my costas washed up on the shore when i was headed back home! perfect day! brusiers in the AM barrels in the PM

Great job. I’m glad some fish are being caught right now. Gives me hope. If you are ever looking for someone to tag along and take those pictures for let me know. I am new to kayak fishing, but not fishing and to learn from a pro like you would be great. I am not looking to take someone’s honey hole but just looking for a chance to catch some fish in the yak. If you don’t want a tag along I understand. Do you have any suggestions what area could be productive for me?
