Report from 7/26

Took some friends from work and their son yesterday to try and put a few in the cooler for them. My son Randy served as first mate because I needed the help. They don’t really get a chance to do this often, so glad the fish cooperated. Pretty sure this was the first striper trip for their son.

Anyway, we caught several solid 24-26" fish (5 to 6.5lbs), along with the usual 20-21" fish and a couple dinks (we tried to release one or two of those small fish but they weren’t making it.)I tried to avoid the small fish in the upper zones as good as I could - most of the better marks were around 50-60 feet deep, several down to 90’.

Last weekend, the concentration seemed to be 40-60, this weekend 50-60. Water warmed up a couple degrees since last weekend, too. They kept a bakers dozen…we had one fish still in the fish box when this picture was taken (which I found shortly after while cleaning the boat.)

Glad for nice weather. Location…mid-lake around the Spence/Bomb area. Fish bit until about 9am and it started to slow down. We did pretty good considering we didn’t get out there until after 7. Heated up a good bit so we called it a day -they had plenty for their fish fry so mission accomplished. Good folks, glad they had a good time.

Would’ve liked to have seen those 24-26" fish in the youth tournament last weekend, but that’s the way it goes.

Tight lines!

Nice mess of fish Billy! Think I’ll get out there Tuesday morning and go to the Hill later in the week.
