Figured I’d post our report from our trip last week to Bimini. Left Port Everglades and ran the little shamrock to Bimini. Stayed at Bimini sands and had a great week with the women.
Fished two days and the wind kicked up. Reports from regulars sounded real slow but we gave it a shot. First day we tried the ledge south to Cat Cay and only found some barracuda. Wednesday we tried again south and found a nice rip and flyers in 700’ working a ledge to 1400’. Saw lots of fliers but no fish, then we saw a bill coming into a flying fish chain on a flat line… I ran and dumped the left rigger back on him and a nice Marlin hooked up to a pink and White Sea witch. We had smaller tackle but the TLD 25 did work and the 30lbs diamond mono got the fish to the boat after almost an hour. We leader it and got the hook and released it healthy. We were short handed and busy as all get out worried about the tackle but managed to get some proof. The GoPro got some underwater shots as we were getting it to the boat. Had a buddy driving that did an amazing job, we wouldn’t have gotten him without some quick wheel and throttle work. Decent size Blue that put on quite the show jumping and tail walking half my spool off. I cut some clips from the GoPro and made a short video that has decent shots.
The rest of the week was rough as all get out. We hung out on land and made a slow cruise home Saturday in rough seas for the first 20ish miles and it flattened out to run 23-25 back. Awesome trip we will do again for sure.

I always liked Bimini, it’s a funky little island and we used to go a lot, but I haven’t been since a week before the Compleat Angler burned down. That used to be a wild place, but I liked wild places

Hilton resort world Bimini a nice place. We will probably stay there next time. Bimini Sands new manager is a total d bag, it sucks now. Hilton has nice marina, houses, condos, or the hotel, casino, spas, beaches and pools, and several rest/bars.
