Don’t normally post on the site but do troll some to stay in the loop. Not a local, so I make the trek down when I can. Noticed lots of talk about the lack of reports so I thought I’d break my rule and post.
There are no secrets as to how or why we caught fish. Just the normal stuff that everyone knows. Looked for proper structure during the right tides and kept moving until we found fish. Bait was plentiful every trip I made. On one trip we caught menhaden, shrimp, pinfish, finger mullets and crabs in the net, so bait certainly wasn’t the issue.

Fished hard for two solid days. The intent was to go offshore but Mother Nature had a different idea so we hung around the harbor and rivers. Slow bite both days but did manage one really nice red, a few sharks and a massive ray. We blamed the slow bite on a falling barometric pressure.

Fished inshore in the flats boat and struggled most of the day. Moved from spot to spot but finally got into them towards the end of the day and brought 8 nice reds to the boat. A couple were 27-28"

Headed back down with my daughter. Had a great day. Found fish in several different spots and caught a nice assortment. 13 reds, 1 black drum, 1 jack and a few sharks. I’m normally an artificial guy but wanted the girl to have some fun so we fished mud minnows and shrimp. Again, just the basics but the fish were there and most were a decent size. All released to see another day. Fished for probably 3 hours on an outgoing tide and spent the rest of the day driving around and hanging o
Nice job catching…great job handling.
Nice report! It’s fun to read reports, so thanks for sharing and including some photos. That’s a pretty orange pumpkin in your first photo and a beautiful blue tail in the last!
Awesome, great job…gives a lot of us hope and keeps the fire going.
Panay river(s) were you fishing catching the reds? I’ve only caught trout in the Wando save 1 in the Stono and 2 in the Kiawah over the past two months vs 50-60 reds over that time period. Just posted in another thread but caught 25 or sontrout in the Wando yesterday which was tons of fun. Lots of 6-12 inchers with three keeper size 2 of which were 18-19”. Caught this bad boy yesterday in the Wando…scratch that how do you post photos here?
Great report. Great pictures too. What kind of camera are you using?
Maybe, just once, someone will call me “sir” without adding, “you’re making a scene.”

Nothing special…iPhone X
Interesting… the limited depth of field on the 6th picture from the top suggested to me an SLR. I do not think my iphone 6s can take a picture like that. Again, very nice (also colorwise)

Great reports, and great photos. I look forward to showing my kids successful days like you’ve shown your daughter. Nice job!

Hey Reeldutch - the iPhone X has a portrait mode on its camera and it was used in that picture. I believe that feature was added maybe with the iPhone 8. It’s amazing the pictures a phone can take but I would rather use an SLR. That day I was captain, deckhand and photography and the phone was the easy way out.

Thanks for the info. That is indeed a cool feature (and now I remember the commercials highlighting this portrait mode). Looks as if you guys had a great day !!
