Report MI 9/20-21

Saturday was pretty much a blown out day. Tried for over an hour to get some bait inside the inlet. So rough. Managed to get one netfull of about 2-3 dozen tiny finger mullet. Fished inside the north jetty for 2 hours. No bites. Went thru the hellish seas to the south side of the south jetty and got two trout in a bout 20 mins until we just said, “screw it”, as the seas were monstrous and it just wasn’t worth it.
Sunday was still windy, but mostly chop. Thought about the Pawleys reef, but decided to just stay close and fish the 3 mile. Wife landed a 21" trout and we had some quick excitement with a free lined pinfish before the fish was halved behind the hook. Overall the fishing sucked worse than any mid sept. fishing I have seen in 35 years. I guess it’s just still too warm. Saw very few bait pods. Very disappointing considering we are only abole to get down this one time this season.

Sorry to hear that. Just keep in mind it was still better then work.

“Overall the fishing sucked worse than any mid sept. fishing I have seen in 35 years. I guess it’s just still too warm. Saw very few bait pods. Very disappointing considering we are only abole to get down this one time this season.” Blueline…

Been like that all season…Hit or Miss

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it. I think I’m going fishing…!!

All the fish must be south then. Trout reds shrimp and finger mullet have been thick from boone hall to winyah.

Quite honestly MI has been that way for me my whole life…ha…My family owns a home there, but I go south when I want to do some serious inshore fishing. The cooler weather is moving in, so the guys like Doc, who have it dialed in should start to see an improvement.

We used to stay oceanfront way south in GC for about 30 years and were there for either a week or two weeks mid to late Sept… I love surf fishing for blues, spanish, ladyfish, flounder, sharks. We have landed some serious fish there over the years, particularly in Sept… Landed as many as 100+ nice tailor blues in 2-3 hours standing on the beach there some years. This year… not 1 bluefish. It was really disappointing. Guess the first part of OCt. will be the time this year, i looks like. Oh well.
