repower/mercury question

I am kicking around the idea of repowering my boat. I am still in the research phase. One thing that keeps coming up in my reading online is to make sure there is good dealer support for whatever brand you go with. Based on the mercury website, there aren’t a whole lot of mercury dealers in the charleston area. Have any of you guys dealt with the dealers who sell and install mercury?

I am looking at a 300/350 verado. Thanks.

Marshals marine is your go to Mercury servicer. Berkeley outdoors as well, but can’t vouch for them. Marshals has been servicing my dads 225 since 2006. 1000 hours and going strong.

Longshore will probably be your best repower option locally for Mercury

Call Mercury direct and speak to a representative who can give you the name and number of the factory service rep for the Charleston market. Factory service reps know who the wannabes and slackers are…they have to deal with them, and all the problems they create. The factory rep will shoot straight with you…he wants you as a satisfied customer in his survey pool. Those survey scores are what their job depends on. Use your Southern charm and polite attitude to get the information you need. It’s amazing how good it works with people who usually only hear from somebody complaining about their product and people. When I spoke with them before my purchase, they were extremely helpful, and happy to speak with someone who cared enough to ask them for help.

I got a Merc 60 when I bought my Mako Skiff. I bought it from Marshalls Marine in Georgetown. Good service department and not far from Charleston. Good folks to work with.
