I took a trip down to Brunswick to deliver a pair of my new “Endurance” bottom rods, my buddy took me off shore to test them out before snapper season closed Ended up with 4 Mules all about this size and one nice gag. The only snapper we got a good weight on was 27# Check out my custom rods at www.facebook.com/requiemcustomrods
Sees were rough it was 3 ft at 4.5 when we left and got worse. Came in at 22 mph. but worth the ride for the snaps. I don’t trust the scale on the grips on a rocking boat. it said they were all 25-30 all 4 were about the same size. cant figure out how to add another picture of all of them.
Sounds like you were in about what we were. Very close together and everyone and awhile a 6 or 7 would sneak up and you had the old butt pucker. Like you said well worth it bring home the table fair. We ended up with two nice red snappers, a cobia am done BSB for a one meal.
“Referencing the first picture…care to explain why you chose to place the stripper on backwards?”
I did its a rod i build. There is several reasons to use a stripper backwards. in this case it is to get the guide as absolutely as close to the grip as possible. that accurate boss is a small reel. so in order to use the 14 in fatty fore grip the stripper needs to be as close a possible. Turning it upside down gets it about 3/4 of a inch closer, it also MAY help braided line from tangling (i don’t think the turbo guides have issues there) , on large Wide reels it keeps the line from hitting the frame. (by large i mean 12/0 or bigger)
