Ok guys… sorry for the delay… school is screwing up all my schedules…
Capts Meeting will be at the West Ashley Charlston Angler, 654 Saint Andrews Blvd. Charleston, SC 29407 .
We are starting at 7pm, the shop will be open for a little bit for last minute purchases and stuff then we’ll have some food and beverages, do a raffle or two, go over the rules and questions and then have a few more beverages
We are gonna try and wrap it up by 9pm.
We will be doing a Best Dang Tackle Box and BD Fly Box raffle. These work liek this:
Donate one NEW lure to the tackle box or a fly purchased or tied to the fly box and get a raffle ticket. End of the evening we draw a winner and you win all the lures or flies donated. ( you can only win what you donate to. If you drop a lure in the box and a fly you will get 2 tickets and COULD win both but each will be a seperate drawing.)
I will have other items to raffle off and I am working on Capts Bags for each registered angler. If ya’ll have any quuestions hit me here or at

I had a question on another site about bait… I will have bait at the shop for sale, I will keep the shop open for about an hour, 6-7ish, for any purchases, then I gotta shut it down so I can do the meeting. Please send me a PM on what kind of bait you want before Thursday. That way I can make sure we have enough frozen and/or live if you want there. We have frozen, shrimp, fingermullet, corncob mullet ( 3 biggunsin a bag), squid and live bait we have mud minnows, fiddler crabs and live shrimp… not 100% if we will have the live shrimp but I am pretty sure we have the rest… Don;t forget we will be doing the BDTB and BDFB, donate a new lure or pack of grubs and get a raffle ticket, one person takes the entire tackelbox home… same deal wiihtthe flies, donate a fly get a ticket and someone wins a BIG box of flies. The shop will be open for any last minute purchases of flies and lures. We do ask thay any doanted lures/fliesa re for salt water inshore… any other questions ya need handled before Friday gimme a hoot!!!
BTW it looks like just on here and SCKF we will have more kayak anglers competing than the IFA Kayak tourney!!! If everyone shows up we will have over 25 anglers, hopefully more… THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

Just wanted to update this and bump it up… less than a week… I am working on the Splooshers Cup, need some wood screws and spray paint and I should be good… this will be a travelling trophy, (Take it home display it proudly and return for next years tourney for the next winner, a LOT like the Stanley Cup), for the person who has the biggest trash fish, (ladyfish, shark, stingray, pinfish etc) and it has a surprise atached to it… tune in Saturday evening to see who wins it and what the surprise is…

TexasRed is in. I will be at the Captain’s meeting. Where is the final location? If you want more fly fishermen around, you may want to put that fly rod up as grand prize (next year). Fly guys already have fly rods. If the winner doesn’t want it, he can trade to someone that does for thier prize. Just a suggestion. Your tourney, run it how you want. But a great disply of appreciation for our vets.

We have a BEAUTIFUL custom 8wt for 1st place fly division. Has the HOW and Redfishville Shootout logo on it. I have casted it in the yard and it is SWEET… Anyone who wins a prize if free to trasde wiht another winner but normally a winner who doesn;t really want the prize donates it back to the Chapter for the Heroes. I also have a 12ft 8wt Spey rod from March Brown if the fly winner is so inclined…

WOW! The Capt’s meeting went very well. Thank You to The Charleston Angler for providing the location and keeping the store open so long for us. Thank You to the Dong and Duck Park West for donating the wings and stuff! And a BIG THANK YOU to Merrit Brady for the beer and drinks.
Saturday morning started very early and everyone pushed out and started fishin. The fog was thick but it burned off and I got a text about the first red at about 7:31. We finally got everyone checked in and the results are:
Conventional Fishing:
1st Place-Phil Lowery with a 29.5” red who took home a 6’6” Med action HOW/TFO Casting Rod with reed
2nd Place – John Chapman with a 28.5” red took home a Shimano Scimitar rod and reel combo
3rd Place – Dave Jaskiewicz with a 28” red won the Z-Man Prize pack full of some new soft plastic baits and ChatterBaits
Fly Fishing
1st Place went to Justin Carter with a 21” red took home a Custom Made 8wt fly rod
Our Splooshers Cup was won by Tim Jones who turned in the last of 5 skunks for the day. Tim wins the coveted Splooshers Cup which contains some new tackle and a Free 4-hour guided kayak fishing trip so he can learn some pointers about catching redfish from a kayak. So if you see Tim around make sure you address him correctly as Lord Sploosher.
CONGRATULATIONS to all our Winners!!!
THANK ALL of you who came out and fished, supported us and/or donated prizes, food etc. We can’t do this without your help! Keep yer eyes peeled for upcoming HOW events.
