nice is it just artificals?

Maybe Mr. Nikon will post the application/rules or something?

I know there is a lot of contraversy about live or dad bait at tourneys, well this ain’t the IFA or JAX, so they are allowed. This is not a big money tourney, it’s a chance to support our Heroes, get out and fish, have a great time and win a few prizes but most importantly it helps us raise funds so when we have Heroes that want to fish they pay for NOTHING. HOW foots the bill for everything an injured vet needs to come fish with us including hotel, travel, licenses, meals, tackle, rods and reels, bait etc. HOW’s mission is to get them fishing and help them with their recovery and rehabilitaion by giving them the chance to relax and enjoy themselves doiing what we love and getting the same relaxation we do. Imagine what a day of kayak fishing can do for someone who has just undergone months of physical therapy for injuries from a combat zone, stuck in a hospital NOW we let them go fish , get some fresh air and RELAX… it is priceless… The Main HOW web site is www.heroesonthewater.org

Any support anyne can extend will keep oour Heroes fishing.

otherwise…

What: The 2nd Annual Redfish Ville Shoot-Out
Where: Copahee Sound aka Redfishville
When: Capts meeting 8 October , fishing 9 October first safe light til… depends on tide… Most likely about 5PM, you can “weigh in” earlier if you want.
Who: anyone with a kayak
Why: to support and raise awareness and funds for the SC Chapter of Heroes on the Water
How Much: $40 entry fee with other raffles and door Prizes, BDTB and BDFB ( Best (**() Tackle Box and BD Fly Box)

There will be a Biggest Redfish, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
Biggest Redfish OTF 1st, 2nd, 3rd place
and the much anticipated “Splooshers Cup” for the biggest trash fish. This will be a travelling trophy much like the stanley cup

If we have enough anglers we will have other catergories but the prizes should be pretty nice… I still have to secure a few but the Fly division has a BEAUTIFUL cus

One of the best causes to support ever IMO. I can’t think of any thing more relaxing to someone recovering from injuries sustained in serving our country then getting out on the water in a kayak, that’s true healing for the soul there.
Hat’s off to ya again Ken for organizing this and doing what you do. I’ll go root thru my yak stuff and see what I can come up with to donate, maybe some paddles or more paddling life jackets.

I am a restaurateur from Cola, I have a place in Awendaw and would be happy to donate food, lunch, appetizers ?

Just tell me how many and at what time, it would probably be a Fri drop off as I don’t fish weekend’s and would not be there on Sat.

Sounds great Ya’ll… as we get closer and I have a better idea on numbers I’ll be in touch… so far we have about 15 people who have said they would be there. Still waiting on word about our Heroes and possibly a few celebrities…

As an update TFO will be donating TWO of their new Kayak Fishing Rods for HOW as prizes. Now I just gotta find reels  I also have a custom built 2pc 8wt fly rod for the fly division, so whoever has a good day will most likely go home with at least a REALLY nice new rod. Just to clarify, all of our tourneys will be CPR, the “weigh in” is just the cut off time to be back at the landing so we can download pix and figure out who wins, well we all really win but who gets prizes. I have spoken to Z-man and it looks like there will be some tackel trays of the newest Z-Man baits as prizes or raffles. There are some other companies I have spoken to and there should be a good bit of prizes to be had. Ya’ll come down and have some fun, support a great org and chase some redfish

Oh yeah… All fish must meet minimum size to be “weighed in”… redfish=15" trout-14" there is no upper limit. Unlike some tourneys, if you catch a 46" redfish it counts as 46" not a 30" max or some such stuff… I just think that is plain retarded. Yes the tourneys that take place over several states it’s a good idea but for a local tourney it should be what you catch is what you score…

Where is the Capt meeting? can you pre register or cash in hand at meeting?

This is going to be a fun event to put a littsle $$$ in the bank so we can host some more events. Ken - I’ll be there and will work on a couple of friends in the business for some stuff. Shoot me the IRS form again please so I can get it in the right people’s hands.

It looks liek the captains meeting may be either at the west ashley CA or the Dog and duck again… not 100% sure yet. As soon as I have a better idea on how many people will be there I can figure it out. I will have pre-registration forms and stuff ready by mid-Sept. Of course you can register at the capts meeting.

Dang this looks like fun! I wish I could make it happen, but from Atlanta is a long journey for a weekend. This looks like a great tourney and cause. I really need to win the lottery so I can move closer to salt water.

Far better it is to dare mighty things to win glorious triumphs even though checkered with failure, than to take ranks with those poor spirits who never enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Good Luck Ken! I wont be back til the 18th for fall break but hope the shop’s treatin you well. You gotta com e up and relive college and catch a few rainbows and browns on the elk.

strip…strip…FISH ON!

Hey Ken, I’m not real sure if you saw it or not but Outdoor Supply Co. linked the tournament on FB I talked to the yakkers at the store and unfortunately that is Oktoberfest and everyone will be working since the festival is held right infront of the store. hopefully at least a couple people will get the message. can I print out the flyer at the top of the screen and hang a few up at other stores in the area?
