Reverse line from reel to reel - yes or no

It’s time to gear up for next season so here’s a question. I’, using Power Pro on all my reels. The top section (no more than 50-60 yards) is what takes all the abuse, so it is a good thrifty practice to reverse it onto another reel? I’m talking about inshore trout and red rigs plus 2 bottom bumping reels with 300+ yard capacity that seldom gets more than 100 feet off the spool.

That puts the faded well used line on the bottom of the spool with “new” line on top.

What say you all? Good idea or penny wise and pound foolish?

That’s standard practice…

yes

I know people that reverse the line and they are sponsored by the line manufacturers.

Sanford in 2012!

Heavens NO, please just wind it off your reels backwards very carefully, then send it to me, and I’ll dispose of it properly I assure you!!

One more reason to use hollow core line. Splice on 50-60 new yards of line and cut the junk off so you don’t have to worry about it. Spliced connections are 100%. But in the absence of that, yeah, put it on the other way.

Can’t think of any reason not to…
