Got to the GTH around 7pm on Fri. Trolled for and hour and got a nice bull and got cut off by a suspect hoo. Around dark we dropped on some nice looking bottom and brought up a Gag, a Mutton, and a Yellowmouth.
After that we put out the hydroglow light and started drifting. Th light drew in tons of flyers and squid which in turn drew in the sharks, big sharks. We were hoping to catch some dolphin/tuna on the live flyers we caught but we were plagued by sharks all night. We only got one of the smaller ones boatside and he was ~7ft, 100+#s. The rest we never turned on a 50W.
Started back trolling at 5:15am Put 2 nice dolphin in the boat. Then we look back and here comes a blue piling on a live flyer we were dragging in the spread. He ate that but missed the hook. Then he went to the flat line and to one of the 2 rods in our spread that would actually hold him. He swatted at it and we dropped it back and got a hook set. He put on a show for a few minutes but then pulled the hook. Lost another hoo after that boat side and a big bull when the outrigger clip froze up and broke the line.
We had a good trip but missed a bunch of opportunies due to bad luck.
