Headed out in a dark and confused sea at 4am. Ride out was pretty slow. Put lines in 170’ at 7am. Before we could get them all out had a duouble, 1 BFT and a donkey. Worked the area until about 10 am and had 7 BFT and 2 dolphin in the box a couple of the BFT were studs. 3 came off a quadruple knock down. Caught several bonito as well and saw a school of AJ’s next to the boat that must have had 200 fish in it.

We struck a Sunfish with the boat while we were trolling. It felt like we stump. There was a good bit of blood and flapping going on.

We decide we might head offshore to try to find some warmer water as soon as we started trolling a little offshore (300’ maybe?) we found a 1.5-2 degree break with a good weedline and trash. The dolphin were there in patches and we worked it on and off the rest of the day and boated about 11 or 12 dolphin off of it. We caught a couple of the bigger one on light tackle casting a soft plastic at the matts as we trolled by. At one point we had several dolphin on at once and had a big whaoo lurking under the boat but we could get him to bite. Also lost a nice hoo under the boat when he cut through the mono.

There was several acres littered with lumber in 120’ on the way in and we struck our second object of the day - a 4x4x10 and we hit hard enough to break it.

Kept:
7 BFT
13 dolphin

Here’s the 4x4

Nice haul.

Nice job on the BFT and dolphins. We saw a hurt sunfish sunday as well. There were acres of that lumber out there in about 130’ as well. Glad your boat was ok with that 4x4

We saw all of it too. I was thinking someone should have told that fella building a house in 140’ of water isn’t a good idea.

Did you get the tuna at the hole or south?

Breakbulk ships usually the ones importing steel coils etc They use it to crib up between the cargo to keep it in place at sea Usda won't allow it to hit the dock without line paying some hefty fees but at 25 miles offshore pretty much do as they please as long as it ain't plastis

been seeing alot of pallets and newrer wood like that also in the 140’-150’ range. saw 3 different pallets in the same day, and hundreds of small 4x4 pieces and lotsa trash(plastics) which we tried to baitnet it up. kinda sad if ya ask me
