We got to the tip of the jetties around 435am. We saw lighting popping to our south and straight out. The radar shawed there was a huge line of thunder cells to our south heading straight along our path to the hole. We thought about heading back into the bay until it passed but another cell had passed into the bay behind us. So, we puckered up and shot a gap between the storms. Probably dumb but, we did it and it worked.
We got to the hole at 6:40 and trolled until 11am w/o a knockdown. We heard of a lot of wahoo being caught so we brought all the rigs in and deployed a high speed spread and got a 20# wahoo right away in 125’. We also caught a bonito doing that.
We then headed in to a bottom spot in 90’ and dove on some live bottom. Shot 1 red grouper and saw a few other good ones and a bunch of smaller ones.
Never found the YFT we set out to find.
