Ripley Light Marina

If you have a boat in Dry Stack on the bottom level at Ripley, you might want to go check her out. I went today to cover mine from fishing the weekend and found where thieves tried to steal my Garmin. I had mine thru-bolted so it was still intact. Several other boats, not so lucky. Regulators, Sea Foxes Express boats had their units stolen. Good luck

They hit up a storage lot in Mt. Pleasant last week.

Yep, they got me. Won’t be down till the weekend to assess collateral damage. Hope they were "professional " enough to to remove without damages console, cover, etc.

How about any boats in slips?did they hit them too?

Mine was fine sunday when i left.

SAFMC you suck!

I don’t understand with the prices they charge per foot why they do not have 24 hr. security and if they do then they need to be fired .

People will forget what you said…
People will forget what you did…
But people will never forget how you made them feel.

They Had a security company down yesterday looking over the area to give them pricing on installing a system. Stickman, I can take a couple pics if you want and send them to you. Let me know.

One of the boats that got their new Garmin unit stolen that I am friends with. The theives did a “professional” job when they removed it. Even left the screws and only cut the cord ends. Did not mess up the console or anything else.

They also tried to take my 740S… removed the frame but couldn’t get it out quick enough I guess… thru-bolted. This is the second time in a year I’ve been hit…

Spoke with my insurance company today- they are in Connecticut. The guy said immediately that they didn’t even need an adjuster to view the boat because they ALREADY knew what was missing and the manner it was removed! They’ve been paying claims since early May on a roving ring of thieves that target ONLY Garmin electronics and ONLY Yamaha digital engine controls, on a select few brands of boats. He didn’t even require a police report, saying they’ll file the appropriate paperwork but no one has caught them yet, and they don’t imagine this event is different from all the priors. All they’ll require are pictures from the dealer IF there is damage beyond what they expect from all the recent claims.

Since my boat has (now had) new GARMIN HD radar, twin GARMIN 12 " touch screen MFD’s, GARMIN autopilot, GARMIN VHF and YAMAHA digital control 200"s, and was on ground level at the marina, perhaps I should get someone to paint my new boat name on the stern , “Sitting Duck”.

They need to catch those SOB’s.

23 and I will bring some paddles on our next trip…should be able to hit up the pilings on the James Island Connector within an hour of leaving the dock…
this just makes me sick…

This is heart breaking. Does the Marina plan on putting in cameras with night vision. Those things are a dime a dozen now and with the prices they charge you think they would try to protect their customers property better.

First off, I’m sorry for any losses incurred by any of you.

Second, I’ve never used a FF or marine GPS so pardon my ignorance if this sounds stupid. Since Garmin, Raymarine, et.al. know that units get stolen routinely, why can’t they build in a password protection layer so that if one is stolen it can’t be used? If thieves and people that knowingly buy from thieves (also called thieves) know that they can’t get the unit to work, wouldn’t it deter them from stealing it in the first place? Obviously that doesn’t help with the ones already manufactured, but down the road it seems that it could make a difference.

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

I heard today one of the Regulators had factory installed Raymarine MFD’s - and indeed they left the boat unscathed. Must be a special market for Garmin somewhere.
