What up with all the boat cradles on the old Concrete Products lot across from Gold gym West Ashley?
Are they going to store boats there?

yes … while they rebuild the stack
so they are going to drive the lifts carrying boats a quarter mile away?
sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
i am seriously thinking of bringing mine home.
I talked with them yesterday. They are tearing down the building. Boats will not be under cover when they are through. Fire Marshal says if they keep the building, they will have to install sprinklers over each individual boat. They aren’t spending the money for that.
Bring on the 2-3 chop!
I heard they rented another forklift and will be putting the boats on a trailer at RLM. Then they will be towed across the road to the concrete products lot and picked up by the other lift and placed on the rack there. The ex-dockhand told me that people were going to have to call 1 day in advance for all launches. New drystack racks are to be built for boats 25’ and larger, as they are “getting away from little boats”.
53’ Hatteras
With the attitude both ripley marinas have and the decrease in boats they both will be in trouble.
It’s not the guys who work there; it’s the owners. They are cutting back a lot of their services and facilities during the long changeover and they are offering nothing to their loyal customers. No fuel(soon,) less access time to your boat, bathrooms cut down to one porta-potty, but we keep paying full price. But it will be nice when they are done - - all new docks, new racks.
