Ripple Effect - FREEMAN 29VH - 8-24 (pics)

After watching the weather forecast for the week we were pumped to be able to roll out at 50mph in the newest member of the Freeman family, the 29Vh. We were having engine issues on the Factory 33, so we borrowed the Lowcountry Native from it’s owner to do some “testing”…

Well we realized the weather man was on vacation when we got to the end of the rocks at 9am with the wind blowing around 15knots with seas around 3’ with the occasional 4’. We made bait in short order and rolled out at 27mph quartering the slop with half the crew sleeping. On the way out we passed no less than 4 boats headed back in including a 28’ Albemarle.

Got the spot in 100’ and within 10 minutes mini Freeman was winching in a big something that was pulling drag, up down, up down… after a few minutes and the crew yelling “donkey” a 25lb ARS rolls over the side. Hooping and hollering abound… then the bite cut OFF, so we moved to spot #2.
Swilly starts grunting on the other side and over the rails comes another 25# ARS. Then a few minutes later a 12-15lb scamp rolls over the side… Swilly is on fire. Then yours truly pulls another 12lb scamp over the side… Bite cuts OFF.

Spot #3. Pull up and another good bite ensues… I pull an 18lb ARS over the side and every one picks at the scamps… We ended the day with…

3 ARS 18#, 25#, 25#
7 scamps up to 15lbs
3 triggers
various BSB and other trash.

By the time we headed back at 5:30 the wind was a steady 19knots on the bouy with seas at 4.6’ at 5 seconds. We rolled home at over 30mph… Oh, and I never put out an anchor all day…

dang nice bully!
