After a 20 day straight work load found myself with a Saturday morning with nothing on the radar but end of year accounting which
was less than interesting. Had been slowly getting the boat back in shape for the fast approaching spring, threw a few rods, some jigs, squid and Kotmubs the 300lb Samoan and headed out. Jerked around at
the Tire Reef and picked up a few small bsb’s, headed out further
on the trough to a ledge, more of the same, ran further and while
we marked alot nothing to show for it. Headed back in to the Eagles Nest area and found an odd “shape” coming up off the bottom in the middle of nowhere. I took a picture with my phone and sent it to
Courtland to see if he can post it…it appears to be a shipping container that landed on its end ? Hard to say…it rests in 50 feet
so if anyone wants to dive it let me know. Developed a Racor problem
as the wind was picking up(cracked bowl, my bad)shut that engine down
and was glad to see we could get up and boogie at 26kts on just one with 3/4 fuel and 500 plus extra pounds, may come in handy some day.

I was wondering what that file was. My phone won’t show me it. e-mail it?
I’ll try to…we gridded it and it appears to be 15-20 feet tall
and 10 or so feet wide, nothing around it anywhere and it’s a good
4-5 miles from any reef I know of.
Fred call me I might know what it is.
This kind of stuff almost terrifies me when traveling out to the fishing spots. I passed a shipping container once that was about 1 foot under the water…one can only imagine the damage it could have caused if you hit it.
Is there anywhere locally that Charleston inshore & offshore marine hazards and obstacles like this can be posted so we can all see them?
The Fish Whisperer
Goose Creek, SC
I wouldnt classify something that is at a depth of 50 foot deep a hazard or obstacle for anyone other then a shrimp boat dragging nets or if it was in the shipping lane.
The floating container you saw 1 foot above the water line, that would be a hazard.
Concieved in the South and born up North, what does THIS make me?

I think what he was saying is that at one time it might have been floating also, before it sank. If so, it was a hazard. I realize those concrete boots yall put on people up in Jersey dont tend to create much of a hazard.
