rivits

any one know where i can get a bulk amount(50) of rivits for my OK Scrabler, it takes the deep reach rivits with the preserated crush area, I am changing a lot of stuff around on my yak and I have not been able to find the correct type of rivits that will hold in the plastic. I have found where I can buy 1 or 3 rivits at a time, but by the time I get all of the rivits replaced, i could just about buy a new yak for the same money as they sell for iin the little packs.

They’re called load spreading rivets. Look for a fastener store. I used to get them at Automotive Fasteners in Greensboro, NC in 100 packs. They aren’t cheap though… something like $25 / 100 several years ago. I’d bet on $50/100 now.

s/b very. Before the police catch it!

Cherry rivets are what you are looking for to replace the ones on a Scrambler. Can’t help with a local supplier, we used to order them at Ocean Kayak from Textron fastner supply on the West coast. When you install them they will probably leave a small sharp protusion of the mandrel sticking up that can be punched down with a punch or filed off easy. We used to have special tips made for installing them that snapped the mandrel off a little lower eliminating the sharp protusion. I have a couple hand riveters with the special tips on them still that if you are installing a lot of rivets I could be easily swayed to lending ya.
