Roatan

Guys: I’m going to Roatan in late May for a week. I’ll be doing the DIY bonefishing program. Any suggestions on flats and preferred flies will be appreciated.

Thanks… oc

Used to go down a few times a year with my wife to dive BC (before kids). We stayed at Sante by the marina. The big flat directly in front of the main house was normally covered with bones in the early morning and late evening. Sante is private and on the peninsula only accessible by boat. The owner of the lodge picked you up at the marina when you radioed him. I would get up early and fish for a while, go dive all day and come back to fish in the evenings. You could wade out to the reef and fish the drop off beyond if you wanted cuda and gar. No one else on the flat the whole time. I always took my 7wt. for the flat and 10 wt. for the drop off. We haven’t been back in 5 years. Kind of miss it.

stoped there on a cruise a couple of years back. wanted to go snorkeling but the water was too rough. Anyway we figured we would explore the island but the taxi driver wouldn’t leave us. He said he would lose his job because if we left his sight something would “happen to us”. I’m 6ft 300lbs it was kind of weird but we took his word for it. we asked him to show us the parts of the island tourists don’t normally go to. I couldn’t believe how it looked like a warzone with garbage everywhere surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountains and water I’ve ever seen. It is surreal there
