So, A&E thinks Phil Robertson is a bigot, so they canned him.
Anyone else suspect that A&E is trying to get the whole Robertson clan to violate their contract with A&E so that they can dump them? Sure, DD is a huge cash cow for them, but no doubt that it’s costing A&E immensely with their mostly left-winger audience. The Robertsons are just too fundy-conservative for them.
Saying “I am offended” is telling everyone else that you cannot control your own emotions, and thus you need everyone else to do it for you.
I hope the whole show goes down the drain. They may have a contract to perform but I’ll bet they don’t have to perform well! That’s one of the top rated shows on TV and I don’t think the Queers are the ones watching! If the rest of the family starts being uninteresting the ratings will force A&E to bring him back, if he will come back! It’s not like he needs the money:wink:
Na, they are under contract! A&E will sue them! They have to be on the show but they don’t have to be likeable or watchable. That way the ratings go down and A&E will cancel the show, lose money and still have to pay them! The family may be from the country, but they still have lawyers down there!
That’s funny. Sounds like A&E is cutting off their nose to spite their face. Barbara Walters wanted to interview him as one of the 13 most fascinating people of 2013. Why would you want to dump someone getting that kind of attention?
Like the show, never cared for any of their merchandise. But I’ll go out and buy a Duck Commander shirt just to support freedom of speech. Even some of the folks in the LGBT community think it’s wrong to condemn the guy for speaking his mind.
It’s not like he promoted violence or discrimination against them, just that he believes it is wrong. I think A&E wants to force them out, but they are doing it in the wrong way. It’ll backfire on the network.
This kind of goes against the whole equal rights movement doesn’t it? I guess equal rights on applies to minorities and the LGBT’s.
I hope he understood and accepted the consequences before he made the remarks. If he did, then it is what it is. If he wanted to keep his family on TV and making money with that show, then it was a dumb comment to make to a reporter/interviewer.
I was actually shocked to see that A&E actually shows them saying the dinner prayers during the show. Dude never has to work again EVER. I would tell A&E to eat a fat D just like he did to Barbra Walters and go hunting. Good on ya Phil.

Hmmmm… good point Hoof. Maybe the Robertsons will pull a WCW vs. NWO trick and start taking over other A&E shows by force. I’d actually consider buying cable TV to watch that lol.

My understanding is that Phil required this of them. No prayer, no show. My sources aren’t exactly first-hand, but it is characteristic of Phil.
