I currently live in NJ and have fishing for stripers for 15 years every spring using live adult menhaden. This is mostly an ocean fishery up here but the payoff is great! Big 20 to 55 pound females lookin for a treat. Is there an ocean fishery like that off Charleston’s coast or is it mostly blues down there. I ask because I’m moving down next week and need a wet line to clear my head. Any help you can give a transplant is greatly appreciated.
No off-shore or surf fishery for stripers here. Primarily river and reservoir populations only. Can’t answer your Question about blues. Great place to fish, but different from what you are use too. The adaptaion to new place is what makes fishing interesting. Forget what you are use too and appreciate that SC ain’t NJ.
Looking forward to meeting other guys and learning to fish again, as far as NJ goes…good riddens!

Glad to have you here and good luck fishing. Here is a post from January where they caught one in the Wando.

You will replace the stripers with redfish here. The closest thing to what you are used to would be at the OBX. Some of our lakes are off the chain though.
