Rocking Chairs/Porch Furniture

I’d like to get the wife a couple of either rocking/Adirondack chairs or a swing for our front porch, and I’d prefer to buy from a local Lowcountry company. Who would y’all recommend? Thanks in advance, and MERRY CHRISTMAS (not Happy Holidays)!

Try Lowes or HD.for the rockers or look for one of those charleston bench rocker.

Double D.

The Cracker Barrel rocking chairs are really nice. My mom has had a pair of them on her porch for over ten years now.

craigslist. All kinds of people selling them that they make themselves locally.

You’re the second person to mention Cracker Barrel. Will definitely take a look at them.

Thanks for your input as well, DD and ED.

Now where’s Penny when you need her?..

I just built one from Ipe/Ironwood and it turned out beautiful. They really aren’t that hard to build.

Oops, Adirondack chair, not a porch rocker. But give me time I’ll build a rocker eventually.

HoofArded: What is your Mom’s address and does she leave home for 5 or 10 minutes during the day:question::imp::smiley: I don’t know about ya’ll but those Adirondack’s are uncomfortable. Hard to get into and out of! You have to fall in and climb out:frowning_face:

Cracker Barrel for availability, they always have them, when we have them at my Home Depot in the upstate, best price around, they may stock them year round down there. Great quality of the Home Depot ones, I have several.

Cab,

I’ll check out the HD rockers. I’d like to purchase from a company that’s indigenous to the Lowcountry, but common sense is common sense. If the HD rockers are good quality and the same rocker costs 3x as much just because it’s “local”, well, that’s just not good logic…

In-laws have Cracker Barrel rockers and they are solid and sit well (some lean you forward). But, if you want to stick with local, there is a place on James Island by smoky oak and paisano’s that has quite a selection, i forget the name but you might want to check there.

I called down to some of the Home Depots there, said they stopped carrying them year round, but will have later Jan, I do try to do local also, but I belled orange and Home Depot provides for me and my family very well. Good luck in your search

Harbor Freight carries them, but don’t be fooled. They are cheap cheap.

If you are inclined to DIY I have a pattern for adirondacks that is very easy even for folks like me with minimal wood skills.
