What rod do you guys suggest for throwing plugs and trolling spoons. I already have a TLD 25 on a Big Water Custom, 7’ 20#-50# ugly stick with 40# mono for trolling. Something in the $100.00 range. I will probably spool it up with 20# mono.

I use Star rods for all my reels: from heavy trolling to inshore. They are strong, reliable, well made, and offer a selection that is unparalleled. They were bought out by Billfisher last year but so far I haven’t seen any changes in their equipment. Haddrell’s Point is the national sales leader in Star Rods. They often have last year’s models in the $100-$130 range.
Ugly stik custom in the 15-20 lb range. Very soft tip. One of the best rods for the dollar you can buy. One of the SKF competitors uses them and could probably use any rod he wanted. I have been very pleased with mine. You already have one, what do you think of it?
I troll it anytime I am moving. It seems nice but the fish keep hitting my smaller rods. I will look into the Star and Ugly Stick. I don’t really have a lot of freshwater stuff. Maybe this one could double as my bass setup.
