Hey guys! Im new to the form and also new to In-Shore fishing(made three trips to SC coast). Im coming down this weekend to fish Charleston Harbor (2nd time). First trip caught bull drum near the Grillage - What a blast! I’m hooked! (pun intended)
While fishing we had to use the transom mount rod holders that came with the boat…I did not realize how much we had to reach out to pull the rods…this mixed with a rocking boat was risky. I lost my balance several times. Any way, I crafted a way to mount extra rod holders w/o drilling holes in my boat. I think Im gonna call them Rod Holder Planks…I’ll be using them for the first time this weekend. I’ll let you know how the do…
I have two…took about 1 hour to make. Oak coated in teak oil.
Well the field test for the rod holder plank was a success from a functionality standpoint! Very sturdy and easy setup. The back mount was a little too close for my Bimini frame but I can adjust that…now if I can just catch bull drum !!!
Great weekend of fishing though…makes me wanted move down there some day!
