Family got a new 15 whaler cc for Christmas. Looking like it might be my rig. It’s great and all only problem is there are zero rod holders in it at the moment. I’d like to mount 4 or so across the transom but don’t have the exact width of the transom with me and I’d rather have 2 on each side of the engine. If any body has done this in the past and has a good experience with rod holder setups let me please. I don’t want to go on a huge spending spree, but I definitely want it to look and work good. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, or rod holders lying around would be great. Please respond with friendly help. Thanks
palmettotrooper has the hookup on holders. heck of a deal and a nice guy. look in swap shop

Thanks, how would those mount to a transom though? Is there some way to design a rod rack?
Get the width of your transom and let me know. We could weld some up with no problem.

You could go with something like this

Perko or Lees makes a clamp on rail mount that is perfect for a 15 whaler. Any local shop has them.
Dont drill any more holes in that hull. Water intrusion is terrible!
yes but splitbill dont’t necessarily want them on the side rails
Check with Whaler to see what is behind the fiberglass. In some areas there is backing that can be drilled and tapped, and other areas there is nothing but foam. Rail mounts are the best here.
hooked up2. If you can contact Dorado he went through a similar predicament when he got his last boat. His setup turned out nice.
You can get some Scotty Rod Holders at WM for about $20 each. We bought 4 of them 5 years ago and they are still in great shape. You can wash them in the dishwasher too. We wanted the rail mounts but there are a couple of different mounts for them, they are fully adjustable and great for trolling. We did not want to put any holes in the fiberglass and wanted something that we could remove when we are cruising with the grandbabies.

Oops…my bad.
The rodholders we got from WM were “Robert’s by Attwood”…and are very nice with the rail or flush mounts. At the N. Chas. store, they had both white and black models. They swivel and can be adjusted straight up for trailering. There is a rotating collar on them that locks the rod in the holder while trailering or when fishing.
