Rod tip replacement

Need to replace this:

Is it as easy as I have read? Use a lighter to heat the current tip slightly and pull off, then measure/order replacement. Then heat that one and slide back on/align? Where the tip top meets the glossy rod looks pretty permanent. Does it just pull right off when hot?

Any tips? I’m in Greenwood SC if you know an expert to repair around here. Its a pretty heavy rod for this area.

You need to cut the wrapping and then heat it up. It does not look like you have any wrapping so just heat it up and it should come off. I was just replacing some in the garage but could not find my lighter.
