We decided to head out past the gardens to do a bit of trolling and bottom bumping Saturday. Knew the weather was questionable at best but had my two best friends that were able to get loose from family and work responsibilities to go, so we made the trip to C. Town, to give it a whirl.
Amazing to me how far off the wave cast report can be. Were calling for 2-4’s last I heard and a falling sea. We came in thru 4-8’s on what appeared to be a building sea. Caught a few fish but nothing to write home about. Decided at shortly past noon to head for the hill.
Heard the coast guard responding to a distress call from a sailing vessel. The coast guard came past us like we were going backwards. Anyone know what happened?? The high light of the day for us was we had a better ride than anything Carowinds has got in the whole park. Cant wait to go again with Taco and Joey Jr. and maybe the weather will be a blt better.
should have thrown your laundry with some soap in a fishbox. You need to look at the offshore forecast from Cape Fear to 31N. They called for 15-20 5-8 building for Saturday for several days preceeding. It built nicely until 4 PM.
We were trolling 4 knts down sea in neutral within site of land.
Hey, Swamp I got Jeremy from B&B to order some spars for the kits if you need them. Did you fish the JIYC tourney? fished with JOG only caught the 17.3 grouper on the downrigger with a ribbon which was a first for me. You are right what a nasty sea still had fun beats being at home on the honey due list.
thanks, I will give him a shout tomorrow. We only had 1 bite down ourselves- a blackfish. Ran the kite for the amusement of 1 of the guys for about 45 minutes. We had our shot at some money.
I swear I looked at every forecast I could find and just did not see the 5-8 with 15- 20. I was looking at the Edisto Bouy info along with other sites. Guess I better look elsewhere next time. Thanks for the advice Swamp Angel. Hey all in all it was a heck of a wild ride. Just do not care to take another like that one for quite a while!! Tight lines to all!! I got the radio box welded back together yesterday afternoon so we are ready for the next roller coaster that comes our way!!
Yes, but it did not take a bet. We ate crows, possoms, coons, and groundhogs. The later being the tastiest. Everyone always cleaned my pot when I made groundhog stew for the Buzzard Banquet.
