Well sunday morning was not at all 2’ @ 6 seconds more like 4-5 with no interval. Ran in around 40 mph though good numbers of mahi offshore still never found the big bulls but about a 3 man limit of nice slingers a few gaffers

Yeah, it was sporty heading out. Even though I felt like a little biatch, we tucked the 36 behind a sporty from 75ft to the ledge. Made the ride out much more bearable.Actually settled down past 300 ft and rode out to 900 ft where there were nice weed lines and dolphin everywhere all day.

Great picture, Love to watch the sun rise out there!
Agree, ride out was not to forecast. I was in the kitchen checking the forecast and current weather station numbers and all looked good.
Walked outside and thought holy crap, what the hell is this? It felt like late afternoon sea breeze. We went to triple ledge and was very quiet there. Went deep and found lots of scattered weeds but nothing solid,. Last ditch effort we trolled uphill and found a few fish at 400 ft with absolutely nothing to indicate there would be fish there. I’ve done 6 trips this spring and everyone seems like the seas were worse than forecast. Makes you wonder if NOAA changed their model(s)?

Someone found a bunch of square grouper out on the ledge Sunday. Crazy that is just floating around out there.

You mentioned getting behind a Sporty for a better ride. Last month coming in we were getting pounded to make 20. (3-4ft, 5&6 sec) A sporty came by to the South doing 30. We took it in the teeth but we caught him for a much improved ride. I tried to be courteous and stayed back about 100 yards. Then we had to stop to fix a rod that came loose. I could not catch him again and the radar showed he had sped up to at least 35. The question is: Do the sporty captains tend to get upset when you try to follow them in?

Hale the captain on the radio and ask them if they mind tucking in. Most don’t care if you maintain a respectable interval.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Seemed like when we got to the ledge and he pulled back the throttles, we continued on and the ride was better without being behind a sporty. Maybe the seas layed down further out but there was much less roll on our own.
