Fishing 1030 to 6 Saturday and 845 to 7 Sunday at Mt Pleasant pier. From what I seen there was a total of one keeper sheepshead landed (couple breakoffs). I fished with clams and fiddler crabs the whole time and only caught an eel, a toadfish, and couple spots. I’ll definetly have mussels next weekend.
at least ya got to go out and catch a few, i thought about going out all weekend but decided against it. The wind seamed Just strong enough to make my son wine about going in the entire time haha (hes 5). so i just stayed home and did some bbqing.
It was pretty cold and very windy. I actually brought a buddy out Sunday but he got cold so I had to take him home (wasted an hour). I didn’t want to go home just yet so I went back for a couple more hours. It’s reasons like that I don’t like taking people fishing with me in the colder months. They never want to stay as long as me or have the patients. I go for pure relaxation.
Not the best time of the year for sheeps. The ones that got girlfiends and boyfriends for the winter are out spawning offshore. I am sure there are a few loners around but the majority of them will move back inshore in April.
I’m still going to target them. I know that there are still a couple around. I built some rod holders Friday and had to try them out. Need to do some tweaking on them now. I didn’t want to be that guy that gets his fairly expensive rod snatched off the pier.
fishboy, that’s how a lot of those guys at Mt. P Pier fish, not saying that it is right. But they don’t lose the larger sheeps they are hooking. They bite and don’t let go

those fellas use whole mussels or clams as bait… i wont divulge all thier secrets but basically the sheeps have to crush the whole shell deep in thier mouths which allows the circle hook to do its job… a lot different than fiddlers that they can just peck at.
those guys are out for trophys… if it aint big enough to crush a whole mussell… they arent interested in catchin em
