Has anyone else noticed? The cooler wars are underway. Received numerous emails from Dicks, Academy, Walmart, etc. Everybody is offering a discount up to $100 off, including Yeti’s.
Yeti is going to be coming out with the Hopper 2 series so they are discounting the original Hoppers $100 at all Yeti dealers.

It’s a product of the fact that they last so long. People don’t need to replace them so not as many buyers as their were the first few years. Plus there is now competition. Looking forward to using my Sams Club Yeti killer soft side cooler that I picked up for $100. Thing is made in the same factory as yeti for 1/3 the price. Just like the Ozark Trail mugs.

They don’t use the same zipper in that Sam’s soft side. The one Yeti uses are made in Germany and cost Yeti $70 per zipper. They are the same company that makes the zippers for the survival suits used in Alaska. Sam’s wants you to believe “it’s the same bag” but it’s not. It can’t be “the same” as Yeti and not say “Yeti.” Just ask RTIC.

Last I checked YKK made some pretty awesome zippers. I’m good with a leakproof YKK Aquaseal zipper vs. a “Yeti” zipper.

Picked up a Hopper 30 on clearance today at Dicks for $100 off. Haven’t used my Members Mark weatherproof cooler yet, so going to do an ice retention test, and leak test and decide to keep which one does better. Sams cooler was $140.
