Donnie and I fished a couple days first of the week (sunday, monday Tuesday). Caught fish and were happy for it and the great weather after last weeks wind and rain. Still finding shrimp in the creeks too…usually in about 6-10 foot of water…deeper on high tide. Always a bonus finding live bait on the way out…esp in December! I dropped my minnow trap over while I casted nearby for shrimp and had two minnow buckets of shrimp and minnows in about 20 minutes.
some more of those big mutant minnows(sorry foggy lens)
Short run to some near by places. Fish were scattered and slow on the bite at times …but any bite is better than no bite, and wehad all day to wait on them:smiley:
ok…about that rubber band.
For some reason my favorite fishing rods seem to be dying on me at the same time. Started with a reel that ive had repaired three times…but think it finally had one too many “runs” on it…well I forgot and brought it along. So go to use the other one and while Im pulling up on a sheephead, I hit the tip on the dock above…rod tip doesn’t break…but the whole little metal eye piece itself just falls off the end of it and onto my line.…Donnie chuckles and says…whatcha going to do now?? Im already digging around in my tackle and come up with a broken rubber band… He laughs even louder and says…“whatcha think you going to do with that”? “hand me a beer…this is going to be fun”
I place the eye with the bracket ever so carefully back on the tip of the rod and begin lacing the rubber band thought the v of the tip and onto the rod …wrap…wrap…and tie. “Your daddy must have taught you that mess cause I didn’t” he smugly says. I snicker at that…but I dont say a word. “you really think that’s going to work?” he asks…Im praying it will just so I dont have to hear about it the rest of the day…
Ok now…don’t even go there!! I like to add TO my collection…not take away from it! Donnie yells cause I like to take at least three with me…you know…one with a float…one with a Carolina rig…one with split shots and flouro for sheeps…I swear I think HE is sabotaging mine! I also do not think they hold up like the older ones. No matter how careful I am those little ceramic eyes seem to come lose…oh yeah…and ive mcgivered those before in the boat too :).
I’m the worst about "retiring "stuff…hard to let go!
Maybe Santa will bring me a new rod. I will put my two old ones in his truck…I mean sleigh the week of Christmas …you know…just a little hint…
Kinda like the picture of the hand held weather thing I want I kinda…ACCIDENTLY …left open to page 11 on the coffee table…circled with a marker so I would remember to look at the spec.s on it
…and the empty flouro carbon roll I left on the end table…
;).
Been up since 0315… Want to fish…still rainy this side of town…hoping it clears.
You better not let Roo hear you called her a DOG, in her eyes and heart she is your child, and even with all the crazy outfits I am sure if she could talk she would let you and Donnie know how blessed she was being adopted by such fun and loving parents. I always keep some rubber bands in the tackle and sometimes even remember to put a cople tubes of super glue just in case.
Super glue was hard…no duct tape…everyone knows duct tape fixes everything…and Roo is cherished and loved for sure. Sometimes I wonder just who Donnie’s true love is
House Autry seafood breader. with a little self rising flower added in. Salt pepper…sometimes I add a little Cajun seasoning in… Put this in a ziplock bag…beat couple eggs…dip oysters…gently shake in Bag… Lift and drop into oil. …mmmmm.
