Ruffians in the Canoe

Hit the creek in the canoe today around 10am for the falling tide. Brought some mud minnows with us and caught some shrimp in the cast net.

My oldest (4) caught his first spottail with his new fishing pole all by himself. All I did was put the shrimp on the hook. Needless to say he was VERY excited.

I also caught a nice slot red with a shrimp under a popping cork.

We were only out about an hour with steady action of smaller fish but the boys get bored after a bit.

Awesome, that reminds me of when mine were that little. Next time take a couple of chicken necks and stick a hook in them when they get bored. Anchor up in a creek and let them crab awhile. Bet the’ll be buggin you from then on to go crabbin. My daughter is 19 and still wants to go crabbin.

Thats what fishing is all about.Even if its only an hour a day for now, they will grow up to be great guys, and soon will be saying do we really have to go home now,HOW ABOUT JUST ONE MORE CAST… and an hour later your still smiling.

Awesome! My husband still has a pic of himself and youngest son holding up a small red when his son was around 5 or 6. His son is married with a baby now.

Great picture!
