I would like to run offshore tomorrow. can anyone advise me on the weather you had today and maybe a fishing report. looking for some dolphin for my girlfriend to catch since she has never caught one but anything will do. I am in a small cc so the weather has to be right.
How small is the cc?
It looks like the waves are a bit close together this morning vs what it was calling for. Current height/period was 3’ at 4.8 seconds. That wouldn’t be a fun ride out in my boat.
If you get past the breakers and it is still snotty, judge it then. Depending on which inlet you leave you may have to deal with waves that are almost like breakers. Some of the smaller inlets have a 1/2 mile or so of dealing with it. Once you’re on the other side, then judge if you want to spend the day with the seas. The height/period above would have people on most boats clenching their butts the whole ride.
Also, as a note, if there are actual breakers it means it is pretty shallow.

boat is 18’ McKee craft. have run 20 miles a lot when I was in Wrightsville beach and key west. problem is that it is not a v-hull its a tri hull. so it slams a lot. planning on heading out of stono river inlet. went out of there last Saturday was nice. went to go back Sunday and decided not when I saw it. figure I would head toward the 226 hole, I think that’s right. I don’t have the legs to make it but just in that direction. but if its 4ft at 4 sec then proibly not.
I’ve never been out of the Stono and I think I recall people saying is tricky.

I think it is called stono inlet. the south end of folly. it was not to tricky pretty much straight out. the channel getting to the inlet is a lil tricky. well marked but you have to pay attention.
do not try to go tomorrow in a 18 tri hull.
yea I made that decision last night. hope this wind turns around for next weekend. just going to stay inside today. late start. see if I can find some reds and specs.
