I value the insight I receive from reading the posts on here by you seasoned hunters…with that said, I wanted to see if you are still seeing signs that the rut is still on, or has it passed? I haven’t seen much activity on my last few sits. A few does with no bucks following.
Also - I have a small patch of woods behind the house where I always see young bucks - than they disappear when the rut kicks in - and come back afterwards. For some reason the area does not hold does. I haven’t seen a deer back there in weeks, so I’m guessing they are still out looking for does?
It just picked back up. A contractor working on my buddies house killed a nice 8pt this morning in his backyard chasing 2 does. Havent been myself in 2 weeks, about to fix that.
I’ve been seeing scraping and rubbing since early October until about 10 days ago. But I have not seen ANY chasing in McClellanville where I hunt for some reason.
The does that didn’t get bred the 1st time will come in 30 days later----then the ones that are left will come in 30 more days. Bucks stay in rut but Oct 15 is the LC’s peak
Thanks guys…I missed a 6 pointer yesterday morning…25 yard shot, jumped the string and went right over his shoulder with the arrow. No excuse, just my bad. He came in nose to the ground after a doe passed through a few minutes earlier.
