Are any of you still seeing signs? I haven’t seen any bucks chasing does for about a week now.
me either i seen 8 different bucks last saturday and none were chasing im going this pm and saturday hopefully things will change for the better
I’m seeing rubs with no scrapes. I see bucks walking casually and ignoring does
We’re seeing plenty of chasing and bucks on their feet during daylight hours right now and have for about a week or so. My gut says those bucks will be locking down with does very soon though, maybe within the next week or two.

I hunt just below Bamberg and they are still at it. This Full moon has them moving right after dark and early morning.
I also work on Kiawah and haven’t seen much activity here. They started going at it Late September on the island.

I’d bring up the “full” rut, but I’d get too much ■■■■■.
This has been a bit strange for sure, We’ve taken a couple of bucks with wet tarsals and swollen necks a month ago, and still doing the same. Saw a very young spot with mommy just a week ago.
We need Bolbie to give us his last year findings from his fetal studies and then quiz him down next year at this time to find out when our Full rut was… Never know when it will be exactly from year to year with our crazy weather… IMO.
Have not seen any bucks acting stupid and doing the daytime death chase. not seeing any new rubs. Tommorows temps back in the 80’s … hard to pin point this thing from year to year.
fred67 my pecan trees have shed their leaves and new green ones are growing cannot believe this weather I did not see anything tonight none of us did three of us in the woods and no one seen a deer just like the saying if you don’t like the current weather wait thirty min and it will change
Bucks are still chasing does, plenty of rubs/scrapes that are being used. The rut began the exact week we predicted, from studies performed last season. Fredd, GFY!

So when did it begin, andhow long will it last? Come on Polly no one can predict it to the exact time. Maybe close but then again it’s been close to the same for century’s. Sure if you do fetal studies you can tell when it was. But if you’ve been hunting an area for 50 years you kind of learn the area and natures habits.
The deer I shot last week stunk but his neck was not swollen. I’ve got tons of scrapes and rubs, but have not seen one deer chasing. Going to hunt from Sat until I get a big one non-stop. I’ve set aside the entire week. I’ve made a new rule… I will never be anywhere except in the woods the first week of November ever again.

Wish I could say the same, I’ll be fishing in the Keys all next week.

His neck wasn’t swollen because he was 2.5. The deer have been on the hoof chasing hard for 3 weeks, I figure it’ll be a lull here shortly.
That was my guess as to his age. Coming up to hunt this weekend. I hope I need to call you to haul out a 4 year old:smiley:

Clem where in the Keys? You won’t believe this but I won about $4k at Jai Alai in the seventies and bought 2 lots in on Big Coppit key at the 6 mile marker for $5k each and sold them a couple years later for $10k each and thought I made a killing:roll_eyes: They are worth about $400k now.
I’ll be giving a speech at Margaritaville in Key West the end of month and hope to get in an afternoon of fishing while there. Do you know any guides down there?

I’ll be in Islamorada for a couple days, and KW for a couple day. We fish with Ross Early with Early Bird Charters.
