S4G and Holt On Report 25-Jul (pics)

Got an opportunity to take another coworker and her friends (yes we had ladies on-board) out for a day of bottom fishing. They had been planning the trip for about 2 months and I promised to take them IF the weather would cooperate. Well, I warned them all week of the snotty forecast but they wanted to go bad. Captain GooberGrape was a even alittle worried they may not enjoy themselves in the forecasted 4 to 5 footers. They assured me they wanted to go!

We met at the dock around 6:30 and loaded up. GooberGrape, myself, along with the puker (that is the name they picked for her but I will refer to her as trooper), the annoyer, sharky girl, Sig Hanson, and the Bib Warrior all boarded the HOLTON and headed out of the harbor toward some of Phin’s secret bottom numbers. The ocean was sloppy to say the least but we made pretty good time. Had to stop to take a series of potty breaks, and discussed the Deadliest Catch on ride out since we figured our day was headed in that direction. The Bib Warrior laid in her bean bag in the corner of the boat holding on to Sig Hanson for dear life. She almost called the trip 10 miles out but fell into peer pressure and we pushed on. Managed to find the fish pretty quickly, made a few drifts over some good looking bottom and… nothing? Tried again, finally a nice remora?? Got to find something else. Trolled around a bit but the first spot looked the best so we deployed the anchor. Started to pick at them and everyone fell into a grove soon the numbers would begin to come in.

The Trooper(aka puker) had the hot hand. No matter what she touched it turned to gold. Caught a ARS, Grouper, and trigger pretty quick then she turned alittle green on us. Very quietly and politely she began to chum. Never complained and kept a great spirit all day about it. The crew was ruthless and had her constantly moving from here to there so they could get bait or put fish in the boxes. The sharkly lady caught a ARS as well between her countless numbers of 3 foot sharks. Finally pu

It happens to the best of us…trust me. Sounds like a good fishing day though.

Scoutin is the writer I just like to fish so I will not try to add to his report. I had a great time and thank everyone involved. Nothing left to do but scrub the boat and get Happy Bob to repair a crack in my top.

Surely you must know that the solution for greedy cudas is a speargun, line-shaft, shock cord and a boat fender.

Contact stretcharmstrong for more details.

That was scoutin’s pet cuda, he spent all morning feeding him his last nights supper. A lot like a momma bird does for her chicks!!

So how many catchfish did you catch in the LAKE on Saturday? Did you use worms or crickets? [:0][:0]

It was a good time. Thanks for providing the ride. She is as close to home as I can get.

I spoke to my electronics buddy today. I have some solutions to the Furuno hiccup. Give me a call when you get a chance.

What a bunch of cuties!

All I can get to fish with me are my son, and a bunch of middle aged men.

I guess I’m using the wrong bait!

What is a catchfish exactly?

I picked up a dozen stripers that were just floating on top of the water in the channel. Don’t know why people waste time out there with hook and line.

Sorry that is a CATfish. They are not furry like kitty cats but they do have whiskers. Keep using your cane pole and you will catch one eventually.

Yellabird, yea not sure what is going on with the recent “green” days. But if I recall our last dive trip you held your own as well. Shoot me some pics from Africa. That place is unbelievable. One of these days I want to tag along with you.

Yes, the crew was nice to have on board but do to the previously mentioned “COWORKER” reference and the fact that my wife was at home with our newest addition I will not further comment on that topic as I only stand to sleep in the ever so uncomfortable dog house.:slightly_smiling_face:
