S4G / FREEMAN Venice LA report 6-7,8 (Pics!)

BEEP, BEEP, BEEEP!!! 3:10am Thursday morning the alarm sounds and I roll out of bed in Charleston. Haywod, Brianh, the Judge and I scarfed down some coffee and breakfast and off to Freeman boat works to meet up with Bully and Doc. An adventure of epic proportions was waiting for us.

4:30am both Freemans are hooked up and we hit the rain flooded road for Tuna town, Venice LA.

The calm before the eye.

We drove into the heart of a tropical depression and arrived in Sidel LA to deliver the “Bushwacker” to her new owner. We enjoyed a meal at Sidels finest eating establishment Southside cafe after wading through the parking lot. Thankfully we had two boats with us as I thought we were going to need them.

Stopped by Salvo?s for 20 pounds of crawfish and after a long day of travel made it to Venice around 9:00pm local time to meet up with our final crew member hwilcox.

Had a few cold ones with Mexican Gulf fishing Companies finest Kevin Beach and youtube infamous deckhand Jordan. Talked about fishing and Freeman boats, great people for sure.

Friday:
Got a bit of a late start but at 50mph the Freeman made up on lost time. Bait was hard to come by but we found what we needed and headed out to the deep rigs. First stop we hooked a nice dolphin and Doc jumped on the rod. Nice bull puts on a show. Then he goes nuts! He is being chased!! A huge shark is chasing him around like a brown torpedo. Doc locked down the drag and started horsing him to the boat. Someone was going to eat this dolphin and we wanted it to be us. The shark had different plans. Finally the fish is boat side and the shark is just inches behind. Someone yells “SLING HIM IN!!” Brianh grabs the le

Wow! That’s a great fishing report there :sunglasses: Great pictures too!

Hummmm, looks very familiar! I really appreciate ya’ll not rubbing the trip in because I could not make it.

Great photos!

It rained on us from Brunswick all the way to Tallahassee. I was nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof pulling that beautiful “$$$$boat$$$$” to Louisiana. I unhooked from the “Gray Bucket” quick as lightning when we delivered the blue boat.
