Revelation 6:8
And I looked, and behold a Pale Horse</font id=“red”>: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
Playing the not what you know but who you know card along with some negotiating and lets be honest whinning like a 3 yearold I along with Team All Rise wiggled our way onto the delivery of the Pale Horse, a brand new custom 37 Freeman, to Captain Kevin Beach of the Mexican Gulf fishing Company in Venice LA.
Had a few delays getting out of Charleston but after ~14 hours we made it to Venice at 4:15am, we splashed the Pale Horse and Kevin looked like a kid Christmas morning, he had all his gear on the dock ready to load and a charter to pick up at 7. We headed to the lodge to take a power nap and 1.5hrs later Kevin calls and tells us to get down to the dock! Time to kill Yellowfin!!
Without hesitation we were up and ready to roll. Thank goodness for 5 hour energy, mtn dew, and that God given drive to catch fish cause we were tired.
8 of us piled on the Wild Bill, 33 Freeman Hull #2. She has over 7500 hours but still rides like a magic carpet and is solid as a rock despite the countless charter trips she has run.
Power nap to the first rig and it was on!
First pass by the rig and Brianh’s Talica 25 screams to life! ZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! These fish fight hard, but before you know it Bully whipped his butt and we have one in the box!

If we could get just a few of these off our coast it would REALLY help!

Another pass by the rig and it was on again! LnS dove on this one and after a good battle over the gunnel he came!

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
I’ve been all over the world fishing and I’ve never seen a fishery as awesome and diverse as Venice La! They have absolutely everything there is to offer whether it’s offshore, reef or inshore.
When are we going again???

Scott,
Did (Captain Scott) Sullivan go off on his own?
“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”
Where to I need to send my application for team All Rise/Freeman boat works? Think I would fit in nicely with this group. Good killin!
What happened to Rimmer Covington? Thought he ran TMG fishing company.
All of this is hearsay so don’t hold me to it but this is what I understand about MGFC, Rimmer, and Scott Sullivan.
After the BP spill the Venice charter captains were not allowed to fish due to the closure, BP took care of these guys and used them and their boats to run crew and supplies to the rigs plus odd and end jobs. My understanding is Rimmer got in with some of the oil guys and had an opportunity to provide continued support for daily operations or something to that effect. Apparently that is more lucrative than the charter fishing business so he and Scott sold their share of MGFC to Kevin Beach and Billy Wells and went on to do non-fishing related work in the gulf.
Along comes the 37 Freeman so both Beach and Wells buy one and their deck hands take over their 33s to grow the company. Jordan, Beaches deckhand worked a deal with the owner of the 40 Freeman to run charters from it giving Beach the opportunity to sell his old 33 which if I remember correctly still lives in the Gulf.
Even with 4 captains running charters the MGFC boys are booked months out so if you want to fish with them you need to call Beach or Wells very soon and get your name on the list. There is a reason they are busy, they are VERY good at what they do and people want to fish with them and ride in their boats. The gulf boys charge a flat rate to fish plus fuel. When you can fish on a Freeman and actually save money on fuel vs the other big CCs down there is works out as a win win for everyone.
Again, this is all how I understand it so if I am wrong well… it won’t be the first time.

Based on your last report out of Venice, I booked a trip with Kevin Beach for this October. Unfortunately, I ended up having to cancel a few days ago. I will make it someday.
