Got a call from JW last week to fish with them on the Big Boy boat on Sunday. Called the wife and after some tough negotiations and a rather pricey buy out she gave me a kitchen pass even though the in-laws were in town. Met up with Pallet and LnS in GT Saturday night to crash on the Early Bird for a few hours before our 5am push off.
Ride out was beautiful and the ocean was totally flat. I almost missed the speed of the contender until I walked into the air conditioned cabin and sat on the brand new ever so comfortable couch. That boat is a FREAKING Cadillac!
Lines in around the ledge and we started to troll. Captain Ed deployed his new top secret teaser bait that he has been working on for some time now. It quickly paid off as we had our first bill fish swatting at it. After some fancy cockpit work we had him on. Fought the fish for a couple of minutes and he pulled the hook. Ran into a short drought but Captain Ed called a “Full Pull!” the crew followed the captains orders as all good crews do.
It worked, started picking at the dolphin with a cuda here and there and a couple of blackfin. Day maker came from the bridge when a big wahoo slammed the mouse trap. JW, worked him to the boat, LnS stuck him, and in the box he went. Made a few bottom drops on the way to the hill and put a couple bottom dwellers in the box.
All and all not a bad day for August.
Highlights:
Fishing on that boat. It spoils you! The new mezzanine, the AC, couch, TV, it is just plain bad ass!
Pallet brought some BBQ and fried chicken. Pop it in the microwave and nothing beats a hot lunch on the ocean when you are use to soggy ham sandwiches.
Flat ocean all day, no storms, nothing just beautiful.
August meat fish slam with the dolphin, wahoo, and tuna.
Finally always fun fishing with a crew like that. Watching Tad, JW, and Ed run the spread to perfection. Their attention to detail is second to none.
Thanks again for the invite! If you ever want to go back to your roots and ride in a fast, wet, no AC
Hey man, fish on the Miss Amanda and you will feel “spoiled” again on yours! ha, just ask Sells. Talk about wet…
All I can say is, it must be nice…

Sounds like a day you’ll remember for a while. Gets everyone fired up to get out. Were you running three rods from the bridge? If so must have been interesting on a multiple hookup.

We ran 4. Those are Captain Ed’s rods. He has a very systematic deployment technique that prevents tangles. When ever they all go down at once it does get rather interesting. But with those boys it is a controlled chaos. They don’t miss many fish.
Give them a call. I am pretty sure they are still running charters this year. I know their customers slaughtered the tuna this past spring. http://www.fullpullsportfishing.com/
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
You’d better watch out Scootin’…fishing on a boat like that will make you soft.
You just THINK you got a pass with the In-Laws in town…something tells me you’re going to see that brought up again…and again…ad infinitum.
“Never argue with an idiot…he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.”
That’s funny. My phone must have rang and I just didn’t hear it or something… <Checking log>… Hmmm… No missed calls either…
Must have been a full boat…

Skinnee that was your kind of crowd too! We cracked on each other all day, no one was left out. Good times!
It was about as much fun as you could have with your clothes on!
Wolakrab, it is to late! I am ruined. It will take a few trips before I stop mumbling about, AC, microwaves, couches, HUGE cockpit, on board ice maker, fried chicken, twin 12 inch screens of electronics…
H20gul, I got your email from a few weeks ago. Sorry I have not gotten back in touch. You still catching blue crabs? Call me country but they rank right up there with wahoo and tuna in my book.

Oh Yeah! We’re still catching the dickens out of big jimmies, Scott! …to the point where Jack thinks we need to hold off for a bit -seems as if we have steamed crabs, crab cakes, deviled crab or bisque about every other night! I myself have to have hooves from time to time, but I think Jack could eat crab everyday. Actually, I KNOW he could!
Gotta agreed with ya that it’s hard to not get spoiled on those big fancy sporties! One of our best friends has a 45 Hatt (The Mudslinger) - we fished three times with him this past season, and I found myself thinking I could get used to lounging on a leather sectional sofa in an air conditioned salon between knock downs! Of course, those blender concoctions added to the comfort as well. And, taking a shower in a real shower as opposed to on the deck?! But since I am a country gal at heart and won’t get above my raisin’, I still remind myself of my love for the Pi! She caught a bunch of fish this season, and we’re looking forward to more! No tuna this past season, though - think we got started too late or should’ve trailered up to meet you guys in GT.
We’d love to share some crabbies with you guys! Take some back to the Judge, too!
