S4G, Two Sons, & Phin report 29-Dec-11 Pics/video

Been watching the All Rise’s little sister come to life for about a year now. Same model boat, Contender 31FA, but I can not argue the Two Sons is a prettier version of my old girl. She has all the bells and whistles and a shine second to none only thing she did not have was grouper slim all over her deck.

Teamed up with Phin, Two Sons, Whaler buddy, and the Greenwood Rookie for a chilly ride out of the harbor. Stopped to catch a few live baits to compliment the top secret jigs Jeremy at Atlantic Game and Tackle hooked us up with then headed off shore.

The ocean was beautiful and the ride was gentle. Played with the open array a bit on the way out. Pretty cool radar he has. Got to the first spot and the crew sprung to life. Monster sea bass start coming over the rail. Could not get through them for jigs or bait to get to the grouper. Phin made the call to move after we grew tired of releasing them.

Next spot Phin worked his magic with Two Sons new big boy anchor and I dropped my line before the boat could settle. BAM!! I was using Phin’s world record Hogfish rod and reel, needless to say much nicer than any of my bottom gear. Then the battle was on. Dropped the Raptor into 4low and up comes the first gag.

Pretty nonstop action after that, Phin brought in a nice one, then the Greenwood Rookie, Whaler buddy did not want to use the high dollar stuff so he stuck with trusty ole yella his spinning rod that was purchased MANY moons ago for a whopping $12.00. It is an ugly looking thing but man it catches fish! I look over my shoulder and it is bowed to the water. Peeling drag! HOLD HIM!!! DON’T LET HIM ROCK YOU UP!!! The battle was epic but Whaler buddy put another nice one in the boat.

Then just like that we had a limit of gags. The breeze was picking up and we had to make the call to search for triggers and scamp or head to the hill to make it back to Manning for supper. I whipped up a hot lunch on the griddle and we shared an adult beverage then made the run back to the jetties

Fine way to close the season.
Didn’t see any of “the jigs” in the photos!
That leaves Jeremy free to peddle all kinds of stuff while we wait for brownfish season '12.

This is not my first rodeo!

Not going to just give it away.

When you coming back home anyway? We need to go trolling!!

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

I told u not to post any pics showing the buoy Scott!

Oh well the grouper will get 4 months of protection anyway.

I have not ever been on a nicer or well rigged boat that wasn’t like new. Two Sons is a few years old and looked like it just came from a boatshow!

Had a really good time today, and I hope I get invited back.

It was big fun. Not sure what to go fishing for in 2012. I’ll wait for you boys to tell me when some legal fish are around. Good memories will have to last long enough.

Great job! Thanks for sharing!

WOW what a way to close out the season. Thanks for sharing your good times and giving me a target to shoot for next year.

A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.

As of Saturday it will be against the law to even fish for grouper for 5 months. No one will figure out your secret numbers by a picture of one bouy. If we were tied to it, it would be one thing but we were well over 100 yards from it. Needle in hay stack man!!

Good time yesterday, will have to do it again if the government ever lets us.

Nice job. How deep did yall fish?
I hate that I will not get to get out there.

I’ve only caught 1. It was in 70-80ft and under sized. Those are very nice.

It was a great trip with a great groups of friends. Grouper filets are ready for the grill tonight…

Sells, the inlaws bought oysters from some local place here in Manning last night. I told them I would pick them up from you on Thursday, they insisted what they were getting was going to be just fine. NOPE!! Should have come to see you! Lesson learned.

Here’s another video. Audioswap on youtube is fouled up right now, so some random song is stuck in processing. It may or may not show up in the video, and I don’t know what it’ll sound like. I’ll fix it whenever it lets me!

Interesting! Do you think that they would be willing to risk their electronic reputation over a little white lie like this?

P.S. glad someone threw it!

If you increase the zoom level on your screen, you can see the buoy in much better detail! Almost, like being there. LOL
