I’ve never heard of these until the recent posts. Where can you buy the freshwater ones around here? Anyone have any input on them?
fresh and salt water are the same.what are you gonn use them for?i use the bigger ones on the bream beds.they are fun with a couple of hand sized bream.they also work for bream when you are gonna use them for bait.wally world and just about any tackle store carries them.
If you use them for bream, keep the tension on and get em in the boat quick. They are barbless hooks and make it easy for a fish to get off. Use an ultra light for more fun! I’ve used them in my pond to catch little bream for catfish bait. Carefull if your in saltwater and spanish are around, they will distroy your sabiki. Add your weight and let it hit the bottom and come up a bit and jig it. bringing in 4-5 greenies at a time is pretty fun.

I caught a 22" ARS on a 15;b test sabiki this spring in 110’ of water. I knew it was something really nice and brought it in nice and slow so I wouldn’t pull the hook. My favorite catch on a sabiki was a small bonito. Fun on light tackle.

Look for the ones with free shipping. You can usually find some that will end up costing you around $1.25 apiece or less delivered to you mailbox.

…or support your local tackleshops like Haddrells or Charleston Angler.
i go by hadrells evertime i’m in charleston.they do all my service work on my reels.sometimes i run out of stuff while i’m on the lake.a 2hr drive to get a couple of things is hard to justify.i suport them every chance i get.you can’t get any better service than they provide.
I’m with you sharky, 200 miles is too far to drive to restock the tackle box. Whenever I’m in a coastal area on vacation I visit the local tackle stores and pick up a few things but I can’t depend on that if I know I need something before I go.

Careful when handling! - unwrapping and putting away. The hooks are wicked sharp - will sink deep with very little effort. They are kind of springy when loose - when taking bait off pay attention to the rest of the hooks. Don’t ask me how I know that.

they will get caught on everything.they really hurt going under a fingernail
I usually go ahead and put my weight on the end before I take it off the card so it don’t tangle so bad. Here’s the weights I make for jigging.

You can get them about anywhere…Most tackle shops will carry them…If your from the upstate, places like Academy sports and sports athourity carry them along with some walmarts…I usually use them to catch bait ( threadfin shad, blueback herring , gizzard shad) while im striper fishing…I know some people use them for catching flounder too…Make sure that you keep your drag kinda loose when catching bait…You will hang into some nice sized fish while doing it…I’ve caught several 15lb stripers on them…Also if you wanna make your own, you can use just plain gold hooks…I prefer to do this most of the time because you can change the amount of hooks you use and the distance between each hook…
2nd for just gold hooks.
