He was suffering.Lost a lot of weight.Looks like a bullet hole,who knows
Very strange wound on that guy. How did the rest of that leg look when you skinned him? Was infection throughout his body? I wonder if there’s anything you would need to worry about eating that one? I’d be reluctant myself. . Nice antlers on that one!

Yeah, a lot of muscle atrophy on that poor guy. You definitely did him a favor.

Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet.
Wouldn’t even think about keeping the meat. He was in such bad shape. Never had an issue shooting healthy deer when huntin. But this one I just felt bad. Maybe I’m just getting soft.
He looks like there was barely any thing left to him. I’m surprised the coyotes didn’t get to him before you did. I’m sure he was miserable. You definitely did the right thing.

Shame he was limp, he would have had a nice rack if healthy next year or this year depending on how old the wound was.

Soft Hel!, you just have a heart. You did the right thing! Don’t feel bad for ending suffering!
Who knows???, could have hung it on a fence or been tagged by a vehicle. No doubt you did right.
