I think the appointment will be made in June. There is still time to contact Eileen Sobeck to show support for Mark. Public comments make much more of a difference than most people think. The only way they will work though is if enough people make them. eileen.sobeck@noaa.gov
Don’t know why the governor does not state a preference other governors in the region do. Thus, NMFS will be free to choose unfortunately I agree with native son’s analysis.
