Sucks.
I have 2 rods that have been sitting at the recieving dock for 3 weeks and have not been checked in yet. 4-6 weeks turnaround time after they are checked in.
I am tfo all the way from here on out. Best customer service there is.
capt. Chris.
Yeah and you have to send your whole rod back in tube +$50. Its a PITA for sure.
Does Sage still have the policy that they can send you a mismatching color rod section back to you?
You would never pay that much money for those rods if they sold them with nonmatching colors but, they seem happy to send you a mismatching section once you buy the first one. Maybe you will get lucky, though? Let us know. Always like to hear how these things go. Orvis gave me an upgrade and even Diamondback gave me a matched section.
ive never had or even heard of sage doing that…always been spot on for me. Our turnaround time with Sage repairs @ the shop has been under 3 weeks from the day we ship it out. I always call first and get a repair number (they say it speeds up process)
Have never had a problem with sage warranty repairs. 4-6 weeks is the about average for all companies on warranty rods or reels. If you REALLY NEED your rod back sage can red flag it and get it back to you much sooner. Got one of mine back in less than 2 weeks because i had a keys trip planned and needed the rod. $50 is nod bad for a rod you will have for entire life considering it was probably user error that caused it to break in the first place. People are really lucky that companies still offer such good warranties. Loomis had to up their warranty charge because people were taking advantage of it so often.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>We are “lucky”?So, when the salesman told me the rod is guaranteed for life when I bought it, he was really just being a nice guy. Good to know.
This is going to be a good thread. I can tell.
ha take care of your rod and dont be clumsy with it and warranty issues should never be a problem. having said that i have broken every single one of my fly rods at least once and it has never been while fighting a fish. I take responsibility for being clumsy and pay the service fee (which includes return shipping…about $15) in order to get it returned to me in original condition. differences in color are usually due to the original rod fading from sun and the new piece being more brightly colored as the rod would have been when bought new. my sage FLi 990 is three SLIGHTLY different colors(ive broken it a few times). personally i think this adds character but thats just me. i would rather have a rod fixed than replaced so i can keep the original with the worn in cork and all. let me re-phrase my original statement…people are lucky that rod companies warranty rods with very few questions about how they were actually broken since most are not broken due to “manufacturer defects”. would you rather buy a bran new rod instead? because i sure wouldnt. the reason tfo and redington replace rather than fix warranty rods is that those rods are made over seas and it is cheaper for them to replace the rod than spend the time and effort to fix the rod. both of those companies still have a service fee required too fix/replace the rod. I have talked with the sage and loomis reps about warranties/repairs and each of those companies (along with many others i assume) come out short when doing warranty repairs for the $50 service fee, but those companies still do it out of courtesy to the customers. Loomis had to up their warranty fee. As far as which rods to buy from the consumer perspective…if you are guide and simply need the rod replaced for client use i would say the tfo or redington may be a better bet BUT serious fly clients are probably not going to want to use a tfo or redington. If buying a rod for personal use i would be happier retaining my original rod and having it fixed if it were ever to break. As far as the
Are you now using the BVK?
Hat eto hear about your delay on the repairs.
Far better it is to dare mighty things to win glorious triumphs even though checkered with failure, than to take ranks with those poor spirits who never enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
Keith,
Not yet, I am going to contact rex and see what I need to do. I have a 7wt ticr that I bought. I finally got all my licenses put in place. Now I just need clients.

If you work at a fishing store, I would be interested in knowing which one.
Sent an Orvis rod in and had it back in one week flat.
