Spending the winter at Sailfish Marina,Singer Island the Sailfish bite is hot, most boats coming in with four to five releases each day.
Nice…Hot is Costa Rica with 15 a day…Not being that guy…just sayin.
I was at Sailfish about three weeks ago and the flags were lined up.
It is clearly not Costa Rica but it is an excellent area to fish, most notably after a cold front and on a NE wind.
6-8 fish days are not uncommon, with some mahi and wahoo thrown in for good luck.
Even my sorry a__ could catch them!
Keeping my eyes and ears open…and trying to learn.
Yes ,not Costa Rica ,but a 6 hour drive from Charleston, you are into some great fishing just outside inlet 1 to 2 miles off the beach. Yes Jim the north east wind blowing this week 6 to 10 was the normal catch.

Sorry, I should be posting on Inshore Reports.

man are you driving at 110mph? I grew up in Palm Beach, parents still live there, visit often, and I have never been able to make that trip under 8 hours.
3 winters ago during the sailfish derby 40 boats released over 1100 sails in 3 days. The fishing can get quite good down there. Remember many days with 20+ shots a day growing up.
Sorry, last two years I’ve run Islander south, first stop Saint Augustine ( leave CHM 6am arrive S.A. 4pm 2nd day arrive Sailfish 4pm)my wife always drove car down ,she says around 3 1\2 hours ??? I guess she should be in the Daytona .

She would meet us the first day in St Augustine 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

no worries man was just wondering if you had a secret route I didn’t know about. Glad you are having fun down there.
Sailfish bite slowing down, Maui and Wahoo bite picking up.

How far out are sailfish and everything else biting? Best bait to use? Thanks for any help, bringing the boat up from Atlanta this weekend and hoping for some luck
Looking back that was kind of a douchey response by me, but I have done the live bait goggle eye thing down there and it’s fun, but CR is soooo cheap with a group. South Florida is just a way of life, and you got to get used to.

Since you ARE being that guy, HOT is 40-60/day in Venezuela, but you probably know as much about that as you do 15 a day in Costa Rica…
Edited to add: “Just sayin”

When did you catch 40-60 fish per day in Venezuela? Venezuela is great for variety of species and slams. A good numbers day there is 10. No place on earth rivals the numbers and consistency of Costa Rica. The last tournament in Los Suenos had 2743 releases in a 3 day tournament. Jon Duffy won the tournament with 87.
just effing with Redstripe…but you took the bait instead…
All in good fun!
ETA: But you do get some extra points for name dropping…

We literally caught 3 sails when we had baits dangling from our outriggers (dipping in and out of the water) from a stopped boat while we were snorkeling with them. They are like bream over there…
Isla can have great days where you can catch 40+ fish but there are a lot of 3-7 fish days. Costa Rica is much more consistent. This season in Isla they chewed for 2-3 weeks and everybody whacked em.The Home Run (a Charleston boat) caught 53 one day. It’s been on for months now in Costa Rica. Many boats probably average close to 30 fish a day over the whole season there. Also, congrats to the Sea Fix (another Charleston boat) who caught 63 the other day out of Los Suenos.
You did a lot better then us in Venesulia! Lots of small marlin not to many sails in Jan. Now Quepos has been hot for us, have had four fish on at one time three times one day!
The Sailfish are heading to Charleston, thinning out down here.
